In 2003, KG came to Tasmania, Australia to study English from Japan. After that, he decided to study further at TAFE because of his comfort, majored in graphic design, and obtained permanent residence.
After that, he moved to Melbourne. He works as a photographer and graphic designer, and at the same time, he is really impressed with the coffee in Melbourne. He is fascinated by Melbourne's cafe culture.
As he goes to many stores, he wants to try his own cafe and finally begins his training in the food industry.
After 10 years of training in the food industry, he opened his long-cherished cafe in Croydon, a suburb of Melbourne, in 2018.
This unique name comes from a photograph taken by Keiichi in Tasmania when he was a photographer. He even lived in Launceston, Tasmania for the wombat, and went to the national park every week to shoot. This photo is one of Keiichi's favorite ones and is currently used as a cafe icon.
In addition, the cafe's name, The Sitting Wombat Café, was named by close friend, Jane, who was his class mate at Tafe. Keiichi wasn't a native English speaker, so he was worried about the name of the cafe and he asked her some good names. Then she gave him a very good idea.
